Music is Important in a Childs Development

Research studies show that music enhances brain development as well as increases language, memory, coordination and social skills. Most children enjoy singing, rhythm and rhyme, and playing a musical instrument can come naturally if it is presented in a fun way.

It’s Never Too Early to Introduce Music to Children

Early musical training helps develop brain areas involved in language and reasoning. Studies indicate that musical training physically develops a part of the left side of the brain known to be involved with processing language.

There is also a link between music and spatial intelligence (the ability to perceive the world accurately and to form mental pictures of things). This kind of Intelligence is an important type of thinking necessary for solving mathematics problems and being able to pack a book-bag and organize a closet. Studies suggest that students who study music are more successful on standardized tests such as the SAT and achieve higher grades in school.

Playing music enhances teamwork and discipline. In order for a band to sound good, all the players must work together towards a single goal, and must commit to learning the music, attending rehearsals, and practicing.

Studying music encourages self-discipline and diligence Music provides children with a means of self-expression.

"Music is about communication, creativity, and cooperation, and, by studying music in school, students have the opportunity to build on these skills, enrich their lives, and experience the world from a new perspective." - Bill Clinton, former President, United States of America
